brainiac

/ˈbrānēˌak/

An exceptionally intelligent person. If a brainiac were a superhero, their brain would definitely be their secret weapon.

Every Brainiac receives:

The Current Book

Your child will be sent a copy of the current book club selection as part of your registration fee for each session.

A Bookmark to Match

Your child will receive a custom bookmark to match the book selection for every club they join. After finishing the book, they can keep it as a memento or you can send the book and bookmark back to us, with a note from your child, and we’ll donate it to a BookBrainiac in need.

Eight Weeks of Activities

Each eight week BookBrainiacs club includes a tailored reading schedule, bi-weekly Zoom virtual meetings, and additional activities to keep the kids busy during weeks where we don’t meet.

Book Club Benefits

The more you read, the better you get at reading. The more fun you have while reading, the more you will want to read. With all the fun they’ll be having, you can bet our BookBrainiacs will read more – and better – on their own, too!

With our virtual book club meetings, kids from all around the U. S. and even the whole world can join together in discussion. Everyone can benefit from hearing from others with different experiences and viewpoints.

Aside from our bi-weekly Zoom meetings, everything we do is “offline”. None of our included activities will require using technology. Our Brainiacs get all the mental stimulation they need from our reading selections and discussion with their new book club friends.

What We Do

Our small group virtual book clubs are the perfect way to get kids more excited about reading. Each Brainiac club is made up of 5-10 kids reading a book together on our set schedule.

Password protected Virtual meetings occur every other week so we can talk about we’ve read, what we enjoyed, what we didn’t, what could happen next, and a whole lot more!

Our background-checked lead BookBrainiacs will keep everything on track and ensure that every child gets the opportunity to speak and participate. By meeting and reading together week after week, the kids will get to know one another and make fast friends.

Become a Brainiac!

Enrollment fees are $75 per eight week club. This price includes everything your child will need to participate, including the book and a custom bookmark to match (shipping included)*.

* We will send an Audible credit if your child would prefer to listen to the book.

When you register, you will receive access to an eight week reading schedule, four bi-weekly Zoom book club meetings, and activities for your child to complete during the weeks we do not meet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who will be leading the class?

At least one well-qualified Lead BookBrainiac will be online to manage each session. Currently, all clubs are being led by our founder, Jeremy.

We are always looking for qualified instructors to help us grow. Please contact us if you would like to find out more about employment opportunities.

Do you offer any discounts?

Not at this time. We make it a point to offer the lowest possible prices to everyone at all times.

What is your refund policy?

If you are not completely satisfied after your child attends their first class session, please let us know and you will receive a full refund for any unused sessions*. No monetary refunds will be issued after a child has attended a second time. Credit may be issued on a case-by-case basis.

*Processing fees may apply.

What are some advantages to this virtual program?

Meeting virtually with Zoom allows our instructors and students to do many things that couldn’t be accomplished in person. Some examples include:

  • Students from anywhere in the world can participate. Your child can still log in and participate no matter their physical location. Our BookBrainiacs will be making new friends across the country or even around the world.
  • Screensharing. This allows students to easily view and follow along with what their club leader is doing, as well as showing off their work by sharing their own screens.
  • In most cases, club leaders can gain remote control in order to step in and help when students become hopelessly stuck.

Will we receive credit for Missed Online Sessions?

We will be unable to issue credit for missed virtual sessions. Please contact us at least one week in advance about any planned absences and we will work with you to adjust your child’s schedule so they may make up missed time on another day/date.

What will my child be doing during their book club meetings?

As part of our tailored reading schedule, our readers will be given discussion questions to help guide their reading and our bi-weekly conversations. We’ll talk about what they like and what they don’t. We’ll discuss the characters and make predictions for what we think will happen next. We will come away with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the book after hearing the thoughts of our new book club friends.
