Breathe… an energetic, experimental, “half-acoustic, half-electric but always eclectic” band based in Surrey, formed mid 2019 over a rum ‘n coke in a bar in Kingston, when Meg met Pete! Initially starting out as a duo with Meg on acoustic guitar and Pete on cajon, they have also collaborated with a few different musicians (and instruments!) over the years. But as for now, Breathe are currently enjoying being a "power trio", with the addition of bassist Chris Kyriacou.

Weaving a range of influences into their songwriting, they have created their own melodic twist of “hyper-folk” - that’s folk roots with elements of indie, rock, classical and world music played in an upbeat and energetic style - but have also moved into louder territories, with Meg going electric and Pete back behind a kit. But plugged in or not, they are always socially conscious of the world around them, and try to reflect this through their music.

Having released their long-awaited album #tagmeinnit in the Spring of 2022, followed by a Summer full of busy gigs, Breathe are re-emerging again in March 2023 with a newer sound and a brand new release, Last Letter …and with other new songs waiting ‘in the wings’ to be recorded soon, so watch this space!

Breathe are:
Meg McRae - Lead Vocals, Acoustic/Electric Guitar, Harmonica, Mandolin
Pete Darlo - Drums/Cajon, Marimba, Melodica, Ukulele
Chris Kyriacou - Bass
