Catalysing sustainable water

We raise awareness and develop collaborative solutions to sustainably solve water scarcity.

By 2030 there will be a global gap between existing accessible, reliable supply and 2030 water withdrawals of up to 40%, assuming no efficiency gains.

Our mission: “To catalyse sustainable solutions for water scarcity by raising awareness, connecting people / governments / companies & develop solutions to implement.”

Water is Life.

71% of the planet is covered with water. Water is the main building brick of life : 75% of the human body is water. Humans, animals and plants need clean water, every day of their lives as water is the basis for essential biological processes. We need water to preserve ourselves and therefore to preserve our descendants, the future generations. We use water to cook to increase nutrient value of food by up to 200% !

Water is scarce.

We see water as omnipresent, but this is a myth. Of the total water on the planet, 2,5% is freshwater and thereof only 0,01% is easily accessible water available for us to drink. Sustainable growth without sustainable supply of water is impossible as water is involved as resource in virtually all production, service and agricultural processes. Water is wasted through inefficiencies and leaks of water consuming devices and distribution (13% of residential consumption, utilities with non-revenue water of 10% to 30%).

The Water Crisis just started.

The UN and the Water Resources Group predict a global gap between existing accessible, reliable supply and 2030 water withdrawals of up to 40%, assuming no efficiency gains. Water shortages are now as well becoming visible in the western world : The Capetown water crisis was in 2018 two months from day zero where water would not be available anymore from regular supply. Belgium is suffering since three years from periods of droughts - with restrictions in place. In Australia and California, wildfires are intensifying and causing massive devastation due to drought.

The rapid increase in population, water system inefficiencies, water pollution & the massive effects of climate change on the hydrological cycle are an unhealthy cocktail that is further accelerating the scarcity of supply of fresh- and clean drinking water.

We can solve this. Together.

With radical focus of companies, governments and people we ’re able to battle water scarcity. Innovation in digital technologies, desalination, reusing, recycling, avoiding leaks/waste and the shift from meat towards vegetarian diets are only a few of the changes that people are working on. But we’ll need more focus and cooperation than ever to avoid scarcity, and rising prices, and to avoid people, animals and plants die from lack of (quality) water.

“Innovations in the next 3-5 years need to be in place to reduce the current 40% gap to zero.”
