‘La Plage’ translates to ‘The Beach’, and refers to the sandy soils of the vineyard from which the grapes for this wine are sourced. The Gamay here is of the same variety that is planted in the Beaujolais. The sandy, limestone soils and younger vine age of this site make for a fresh and lifted red wine that is ideal for more immediate drinking.

A red blend of Merlot and Gamay. Each grape separately undergoes semi-carbonic maceration for nine days before assemblage and a year of elevage in neutral tanks. The wine drinks super fresh, with generous purple fruit and herbal notes of sage and rosemary. Even at 14 degrees alcohol, this is super fun and shockingly easy to drink bottle - pure ambrosia.

This is a lovely, topped up, or ouillé style Chardonnay, with a touch of Savagnin, from Fabrice. The ‘20 vintage brings lifted acidity, balanced nicely by some nuanced barrel aging that adds a bit of nuttiness. This is a perfect entry point to the oft overlooked whites from Domaine De Saint Pierre - the next step up would be the phenomenal single vineyard Chardonnay, ‘Les Brulees’ from 2020, which knocked our socks off when the wines arrived in NY a few months ago - load up the cellar!

Joachim Roque makes wine in the Roussillon AOC of Collioure. After learning organic and biodynamic viticulture from Alain Castex, and winemaking from Bruno Duchene he started Domaine Carterole in 2014. Esta Fete is a blend made predominantly from Grenache Blanc, with a bit of Roussanne. The grapes come from a single terraced vineyard planted on the local schist soil. This is Joachim’s top white cuvee. The ‘22 is drinking beautifully, with an elegant minerality and bright acidity that is seldom found in white wines from Roussillon’s hot and arid climate.

One of our personal favorites! The second press of Franz’s Pinot Blanc blended with Chardonnay that is pressed with the skins of the Pinot Blanc. It’s a medium to full-bodied white with tons of stone fruit, a salty breeze, and a citrus forward finish. It reminds us of Andreas Tscheppe’s Salamander Chardonnay.

All three champagne houses are in the same region of Les Ricey and each year they bottle four Blanc de Noirs of 100% Pinot Noir under the Contrees label. The wine making is the same across all four cuvees however, each one comes from a different lieux-dits with different characteristics.

This is a perfumed red blend of Syrah, Grenache and Gamay. The wine exhibits a deep concentration of fruit and a lengthy finish of chalky acidity from the vineyard’s limestone and clay soils.

The Chenin Blanc grapes for this cuvee are sourced from two different neighboring parcels that were planted and previously farmed by the Hacquet siblings back in the 50’s. The wine was bottled in the summer of ‘21, and the extra few years of bottle conditioning makes for a beautiful golden hued wine with crisp apple fruit and lifted acidity.
