Earn an Average of $15/ Hour

Early Childhood Teachers at NOEEN City Seats sites earn a minimum of $15 per hour. In New Orleans, Early Childhood Teachers pay rates range from $11 to $19 per hour, depending on the care setting (child care centers, Head Start, and school-based pre-K).

Receive Up to $6,000 in Wage Enhancements

Upon eligibility, Early Childhood Teachers have the chance to receive up to $3,787 in School Readiness Tax Credits every year. Additionally, during the 2023-2024 program year, the New Orleans Mayor’s Office of Youth & Families and Agenda for Children will distribute wage enhancement bonuses of up to $2,250 to eligible educators.

Qualify for Free Child Care

For the 2023-24 program year, full-time Early Childhood Teachers in Orleans Parish may be eligible for free child care for their children, subject to meeting certain requirements. Many early learning programs also offer tuition subsidies for educators’ children.

Access Up to $60,000 in Down Payment Assistance

Through interest-free forgivable loans, the city of New Orleans is providing up to $60,000 in down payment assistance to qualifying Early Childhood Education Teachers purchasing a house.

Pursue Your Degree, 100% Free

Eligible Early Childhood Teachers now have access to free tuition for degrees in education or childhood development at accredited Louisiana universities, community colleges, or technical schools.

YOU MAY ALREADY BE QUALIFIED

No state-mandated education minimums are required for Assistant Teachers. However, specific early learning programs may require a high school diploma and credentials like a Child Development Associate (CDA) or the Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate (ECAC).

All Lead Teachers working in Type III child care centers are required to have the ECAC as a minimum credential within 24 months of their start date as educators.

Receive On-the-Job Training

Early Childhood Education Teachers can pursue the Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate (ECAC) for free by enrolling in approved ECAC programs.
