FMC is an individual competition organised for students of Year 5 to Year 13. The students are to register their interest with their teachers. FMA will supply the needed papers to the schools and all students are to sit the examination on a set date and time. After the examination the scripts are collected and sent to FMA for marking. The student’s marks are grade in 5 categories, namely Prize, Distinction, Credit, Pass and Participation. The certificates of students are sent to schools while the Prize awardees are invited to the FMA Awards the following year to collect prizes for their achievement.
TMC is a team competition whereby each school can fill in one team per level. The competition is organised for Year 5 to Year 13 student. A student may only participate in the grade that he/she is currently enrolled in. The completion is carried out in two folds. First is the Zone Competition which is usually carried out in North West, South West, Northern and Central Division. The winners and second place getters at their level in each zone qualify for the final which is held at a predetermined location on a particular date.
The Fiji Mathematics Awards is an annual event which is organised in Central, Western and Northern division to honour the achievements of students in Fiji Mathematics Competition (FMC), Team Mathematics Competition (TMC) and External Examination
