Today Florence Airport is the 19th busiest airport of Italy. It is located in Peretola a suburb of Florence, 8 km from Florence city centre. Peretola is claimed as the birthplace of Amerigo Vespucci this was the reason that the formally name of Florence Airport was Amerigo Vespucci Airport.
