How we met

July 2008

It all started the month of July when I went to summer camp for a week. Little did I know that this week was going to change my life forever. As soon as I stepped through the doors, we locked eyes and it was love at first sight. I thought, “Whoa who is this beautiful girl? I have to get to know her”. Notes were passed, numbers were swapped and a friendship was built that would stand the test of time. Fast forward through years of keeping in touch and always checking in with one another we finally had ourselves a date on August 2016. Although I knew she was the one from the beginning, we dated for four years and all of them were filled with laughter, joy and unforgetable experiences. From stepping through the doors as the new kid at camp to endless love poems. There was one poem I messaged her in July that would take this relationship to an entirely different level. -Akash #HappilyEverAhmed2021 #CuckooForCamelia

Our Proposal

July 18, 2020

“..11:30am pick up, please don’t be late I promise you it’s gonna be one hell of a date..” I was estatic when I received this text from Akash. I usually plan our dates so this was a nice surprise. We start to make our way to Gerry Park in Roslyn. Usually Akash is talkative but on this specific day..... he’s quiet & his palms are sweaty. As we arrive we see that the park is closed for construction. Akash however, is adamant about a summer picnic at this park so we begin to set up... I was fully expecting citations for illegally being in the park. I’m elated as Akash packed my favorite food & drink. It’s the perfect day for a picnic. Our contentment is shortlived as a group of 15+ hostile geese start to approach us. As many people know, I am extremely scared of geese. Panic begins to set in. Akash pays me no mind and stands his ground with the geese. They eventually leave and I sit back down to finally relax.... As I sit, Akash tells me that he saw me sit on an ant. Thoroughly confused, I get up to check my dress. I turn to him and he’s on one knee with a ring box! “IT’S HAPPENING” I excitedly and internally scream to myself!!! Suddenly Akash screams “CUCKOOO CUCKOOOOO” I start to panic. Is he not proposing? Is he pranking me? Is he calling the geese back?!! Eliana Hamilton (our dear friend, family photographer & designer of our invites) jumps out of the bushes and starts to take pictures. Akash and I exchanged words we will cherish forever. What started as an anxiety ridden morning ended with overwhelming joy & love. -Camelia #HappilyEverAhmed2021 #CuckooForCamelia
