Please Allow Me to Introduce Myself...

Spencer (RIP) and I in 2012

Hello!

My name is Robert Horton, and I'm freelance writer and editor based in Palm Coast, FL.

I'm not great at introductions, but I'll give this a go anyway.

For as long as I can remember, I've had a way with words -- on scrabble boards, in the classroom, while averting bar fights, etc. In fact, I was an aspiring country music songwriter at one time, believe it or not. I recently dusted off my guitar after a self-imposed hiatus from music, and I'll be attempting to make my comeback in the near future. If you're interested, you'll find more info @ my music website

When I'm not staring at computer screens or mind-altering mobile devices, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs, a 100 pound, neurotic, super-suspicious German Shepherd named Dresden, along with a 12-pound Chihuahua-Pug mix, Pugslee. Other interests include running, good beer, World War II, ghost towns, the mafia, stand-up comedy, Simon, Garfunkel, hair loss (more on that in a minute), and Seattle-area sports.

I have an English Degree from the University of Washington, which probably hasn't helped me very much in spite of my career path. Live and learn.

I've written web copy for thousands of businesses of all sizes, from mom-and-pop operations to multi-national corporations. I take pride in what I do. No matter what type of project I undertake, and regardless of the pay, I always strive to deliver exceptional work. If you have any questions or would like a free project quote, feel free to contact me directly.

MY SPECIALTIES

Small-Business Copywriting

This is my bread and butter. I love helping small business owners succeed online. I've written copy for basically every type of business, from auto shops to zumba studios. I've worked with hell-fire baptist preachers and abortion clinics. And of course, I've served thousands of clients in every skilled trade known to man, including painters, plumbers, and builders, to name a few. Hundreds of HVAC contractors, too. Whether your collar is blue, white, green, or gold, I have your copy needs covered.

Blogging

I enjoy blogging, especially of the list-style, share-driven variety. My relatively new balding blog is quickly becoming one of the top blogs in the niche, generating 1,000+ unique page views per day. Am I going bald? No, not necessarily, and not like my grandfather who looked like Dr. Phil minus the mustache, but kind of. We're all balding, just like we're all dying. There's your uplifting message for the day! You can check out my hair loss blog here if you're interested. I also guest and ghost blog on a broad range of subjects.

And Much More

I'm well-versed in local SEO in particular, along with general content writing. Blog comments? Yep, I've written those. Amazon product descriptions? Of course. Video scripts? You better believe it. Newsletters, social media posts, and customer-service emails? Check, check, and check. Other weird and bizarre projects I've undertaken include an "adult" video script, late-night comedy joke writing, and several theme songs.

A Song for the Road

Here's a music video for my song "Cuttin' the Backwoods Down."

Hopefully it'll become a post-Corona party anthem in the not-too-distant future.

Stay safe out there. Track is below:
