JOSCELYN GARDNER (MFA) is a Professor in the Department of Fine Art, School of Design, at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. This Teaching Portfolio is a record of her professional work from 2015-2017.

Gardner is also a practising professional visual artist who has been exhibiting internationally since 1993. She has held solo exhibitions in the USA, Canada, Spain, and the Caribbean. Most recently, her exhibition titled 'Staging Mary Prince' was held at the Bermuda National Gallery (2016). Her work has also been shown in numerous international biennials (Sao Paulo, Santo Domingo, Pontevedra, Vienna, Krakow, Torun, Norway, San Juan) as well as in curated group shows in several prestigious museums (Brooklyn Museum, Centre Pompidou). She has received international awards for her work, including the Grand Prize of the 7th International Printmaking Biennial (Quebec, 2011).  Her work is held in public collections worldwide including the Yale Centre for British Art, Yale University Art Gallery, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Puerto Rico, Tropenmuseum (Amsterdam), and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Her work has also appeared in many international art publications and she has presented it in lectures at Yale University and Princeton University in the US, and at several universities in Canada. She recently co-edited Art as Caribbean Feminist Practice in Small Axe: A Caribbean Journal of Criticism (Issue 52).

Gardner founded the Print London artist collective in 2014 and is currently its Chair. This organization provides a professional locus for recent graduates of printmaking in London as well as annually  hosting The Ontario Miniature Print Exhibition (TOMPE). She is also a member of the Steering Committee of Satellite Project Space, an education-focused art gallery in downtown London.
