Meditation instructor, Mike Kesselring, believes that all people can benefit from mindfulness and meditation.

In 2017, I decided to start “Just Sit Seattle” to offer meditation and mindfulness instruction. My objective is to help my clients reduce stress, improve their focus, and learn how to stay present no matter what life brings. In 2001, newly sober, I began the journey of meditation and mindfulness. What has happened over the last 21 years of practicing meditation and mindfulness has been a literal transformation of my life and how I see the world.
My journey has included walking through trauma, and processing the guilt and shame that comes with years of living in active alcoholism and addiction. As a member of a recovery community, I have seen the profound benefits of active daily meditation and on-going mindfulness practice in long-term recovery, not only in my own life, but for many others. Along the way, I have also seen the value of this practice for people of all walks of life including children, adolescents, and adults.

Over the years, I have worked with monastic and lay instructors. I have several years of experience teaching mindfulness-insight meditation in group settings and individually. I have worked with inpatient and outpatient treatment centers using various curricula to meet the needs of clients (groups and/or individuals).  I have also conducted weekend workshops in mindfulness-insight meditation as well as co-facilitated workshops focused on yoga and mindfulness. I am a graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher’s Certification Program from both the Awareness Training Institute and the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley, led by Jack Kornfield, Ph.D. in psychology and former Buddhist monk, and Tara Brach, Ph.D. in clinical psychology and founder of Insight Meditation Community of Washington D.C.
