KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 — The Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) is known for bringing trendy fashion brands and designers together to showcase their latest clothing collections.

 This year, however, featured a universally elegant fashionwear no costume can beat — a beautiful and radiant smile.

 Oral care brand Colgate brought big smiles onto the KLFW 2023 runway with its "The Smile Collection”.

 The collection comes with a beauty kit that includes Colgate Optic White O2 toothpaste and a whitening pen.

It aims to remind people of what is truly beautiful — their own radiant smile.

The idea behind the collaboration with KLFW 2023 was to evoke self-confidence in Malaysians and let them discover their own beauty in their radiant smile.

Colgate-Palmolive Marketing Sdn Bhd marketing director (oral care) Callista Fernandez, in a statement, said …

“the radiant smile brings to the surface one’s deeper emotions as it is the most genuine form of self-expression and the hallmark of real beauty. By recalibrating the way in which we view beauty, we hope The Smile Collection encourages Malaysians to genuinely express their authentic selves and smile out loud.”

The product launch also saw a panel discussion where beauty enthusiasts came together to further drive the conversation around breaking beauty norms.

The panel agreed that industry beauty standards need to evolve based on markers defined by the individual that reflect their true, authentic selves.

We are searching for real women and men who show us true confidence in being their most handsome and beautiful self with their radiant smile.

Chosen winners will be invited to do an opening walk for KLFW 2023.
This search is open to local or international individuals, 18 to 30 years of age, and can be currently represented by an agency provided consent is given. Personal details, measurements and headshots are to be submitted via the online form.

MODA Malaysia, also known as Malaysia Official Designers' Association, is an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the Malaysian fashion industry.

It serves as a platform for designers, fashion professionals, and industry stakeholders to collaborate, network, and showcase their talents. MODA Malaysia aims to elevate the Malaysian fashion scene, foster creativity, and contribute to the growth and recognition of local designers both domestically and internationally. The association organizes showcases and initiatives to highlight Malaysian fashion talent and raise awareness about the industry.

Introducing a Brand New Segment

Starting from 2023, KLFW will launch Asia Fashion Exchange - a show segment with the purpose of introducing a cross-cultural fashion dialogue to foster understanding, appreciation, and collaboration between diverse cultures through the medium of fashion.

It encourages the exchange of ideas, aesthetics, and traditions, promoting cultural diversity, inclusivity, and mutual respect, while showcasing the richness and beauty of different Asean fashion perspectives.

The inaugural Brand that will be leading this new segment is Buttonscarves.

Founded in 2016, Buttonscarves is a luxury lifestyle brand from Indonesia, aiming to bring new modest fashion trends to the world's doorstep. Currently, there are over 40 physical stores in Indonesia, and as of July 2023, the brand has expanded to Kuala Lumpur with the opening of 5 stores.
