La Sagrada Familia
La Sagrada Familia

Coming soon: 2023

Two Shamans, three children, and a 1000-mile road trip to the Amazon.

For me, this trip - filming and “living” in the car for two weeks - was intense and powerful. Lots of creativity and endless solutions rising to the challenge. A luxury of an experience.

Using three stories and three coastal sites in northern Peru, Bruma speaks about a territory where every life has its meaning; a society that despite its limitations and material situations, continues to seek healing and to give meaning to its story.

Working with Docuperu is like going back to the future. Friends and colleagues of so many years, always in constant new projects. It was a pleasure and a challenge to be able to create and document in such a creative, different, orderly way a reality that much is said about, but not so much known. A beautiful and particular portrait of the north coast of Peru.

El Canto de Las Mariposas
El Canto de Las Mariposas

2020

Rember Yahuarcani, an artist from a nearly extinct town in the Peruvian Amazon, returns to his grandmother's land for inspiration and discovers why the stories of his ancestors cannot be forgotten.

This is a documentary of processes ... constantly learning between so many professionals who were looking for a way to understand and document so many diverse realities, myths, legends, and horrors of Peru's history and the human condition. We were traveling through the sensitivity of art and a unique documentary was achieved.

Nada Queda Sio Nuestra Ternura

A forgotten bridge, a house in ruins, a melody that one would like to find again: for many, the armed conflict at the end of the 20th century, in Peru, forever changed the face of the country. The Andean territory became the mirror of a fragmented memory, with which it is difficult to reconcile. Nothing Remains But Our Tenderness accompanies women and men who face the traces left on the road.

This was one of the most interesting processes in my professional development, together with friends and colleagues from DocuPerú, and a new direction. Led by a French director seeking to know Peru more deeply and communicate those learnings with the world.

Proyecto Quipu
Proyecto Quipu

2017

In Peru, over 272,000 women and 21,000 men were forcibly sterilized by the government in the 1990s. Thousands have claimed that this happened yet so far they have been repeatedly silenced and denied justice. After almost 20 years, their voices can finally be heard through this interactive documentary, which connects a free telephone line in Peru with the project's website for anyone to listen to their courageous testimonies.

My first experience pushing the limits of the traditional documentary, what a great learning, in every way. A concept in the philosophy behind every shot and such a valuable project. I am honored to be part of and contribute to the photography.

The Last Shaman
The Last Shaman

2017

In a last-ditch, desperate effort to avoid suicide, a depressed young man travels to the Peruvian Amazon rainforest to join an ancient ritual involving hallucinogenic plants.

Meeting Raz Degan in the context of filming in a wild way in the jungle on various trips and in different years, it was that, it was wild. Creativity and cultural experiences, references, stamina times and crazy performance. All incredibly and beautifully bizarre. The good the bad, down to the community Shipibos production assistants. How amazing my Peru...

Afro-Peruvian Beats

2017

Afro-Peruvian Beats is a musical voyage that brings together international musicians Branko, Matias Aguayo, and Dengue Dengue Dengue at the “Carnaval Negro” in Chincha, the largest black cultural event in Peru. The musicians are guided by the Ballumbrosio family, renowned local musicians and hosts, who serve as a creative bridge between Afro-Peruvian tradition and the visiting artists, immersing listeners in the rhythms, melodies, dance, and instruments of Peru’s African cultural heritage to reinterpret and share this legacy with the world.

In this beautiful project, I was as camera number two and from there contributed with photography. It was a joyful shoot. Some incredible storytellers all present. Epic the music.
