Nkwerre Daughters USA

We are going somewhere---Our next project and dream is as follows:

  ByMrs.Thessy Nwachukwu

       Good evening honorable Chairman, Chiefs, Ndi Nze na Ozo, our distinguished honorees, our esteemed and amiable NDUSA members ( Ndi ezigbo omume), ladies and gentlemen, all protocols observed. First, let me acknowledge the Glory of God Almighty for the honor and distinguished privilege of standing before you all as the President of this prestigious Association of Umu Ada Opia Egbe in America to address this August gathering.
        When I was elected into this office precisely a year ago,  my most desired goal and aspiration for Umu Ada Nkwerre was to restore our most cherished dignity of purpose, love, peace, respect, the spirit of oneness.  That of being each other's keeper and all the good virtues associated with Umu Ada Nkwerre back into our midst. Secondly, to remain laser-focused on the core reasons for our existence which is giving back to our beloved ancient Kingdom of Nkwerre, which I did for years as the former Vice-President and Chairman of Fundraising and Project Committee of this tremendous ogbako Umu Ada Opia Egbe.
         However, to consolidate on our limited resources, we had to narrow our scope of execution down to St Catherine's Secondary School Nkwerre; one of our great Institutions of learning ( my Alma Mater). This is equally one of the most excellent Girls Secondary schools south of the Niger, the most adorable but now dilapidated and overgrown with bushes. The environment of the school and the state of the infrastructure is quite horrifying, deplorable and not fit for human habitation let alone vulnerable young girls studying under such conditions. May I at this point take a few minutes to list some areas we have addressed with the lean resources available to us through the generosity and support of some great Philanthropists like you all out there;
In 2012, we renovated St Catherine's Dining Hall, under the able leadership of our indefatigable and energetic President - Emeritus, Prof. (Mrs) Ola Nnadi
We collected and shipped a container load of books, teaching aids and other Educational materials to the school (2012), courtesy of our one and only amiable Treasurer and Education Committee chairman, Mrs. Oby Jennifer Anyiam Opurum.
Our most recent accomplishment is the building of a brand new 21st Century Digital Solar Computer Lab with 40 Workstations and peripherals like dedicated printers & overhead projector. This was made possible courtesy of my husband's schoolmate and good friend Chief (Dr.) & Chief (Mrs.) Leostan Ekeh, Chairman/CEO Zinox Technologies Nig Ltd who obliged my husband's persistence on building one for St Catherine's under the Universal Service Provision Fund.
       The successes so far have opened up another yearning, this time for a State-of-the-art dormitory for the girls as the demographic statistics of the school has more than doubled within the last 6-8 months due to our efforts in bringing the school up-to-date in infrastructure and learning aids. They now have a Solar Computer lab 24/7 and all the attention from parents who want the best for their children even with their limited resources.
          I, therefore, on behalf of Nkwerre Daughters USA, do humbly request that our honorable distinguished guests and our honorees, kindly oblige us by giving generously to our course this evening as God will so benevolently enrich and reward you as you give. Donations in kind (material), cash or even singularly taking up one of such projects will be highly appreciated. These girls currently take their shower outside naked as early as 5.00am; still use pit toilet system which not only is colonial and obsolete but the source of contacting all sorts of diseases, infested with dangerous and poisonous reptiles. We can go on and on and on, but the fact is that we are in dire need of your help both financial and otherwise. All proceeds will correctly channel to this project, and we remain utterly accountable to our sponsors and donors at the end of each project as we have always done in the past. May God richly bless and replenish your resources as you generously give as led by the Lord in your heart.
     May I use this time to personally and on behalf of Nkwerre Daughters USA,  invite every right-thinking Nkwerre Daughter out there to come and join forces with your sisters to form that formidable coalition movement to “Make Nkwerre Great Again”! A popular America President once said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” And also remember that "the candle loses nothing by lighting up another candle; also that one candle can wipe out darkness.” Let's be the change we want to see in our lifetime; let your light shine even unto your sisters back home - “Yes together we can make a change n’ala Nkwerre ."
          At this time, I want to thank all those who persevered to help put this convention together. Particularly Ada Opia Egbe Adoha Mbaruguru and her team, those who supported us by way of advertorials and congratulatory messages in our event brochure, purchasing our raffle tickets, our honorees that are here today with us to receive their awards. It's well with you all. Keep up the great job! We have enough food and its cash bar; enjoy yourselves and be happy with Umu Ada Opia Egbe.
           Finally, I must give God the Glory for my children Oby and Uzoma and to my soul mate, my rock, my confidant, my anchor, my best friend and dear husband Ordy, for his unflinching support and encouragement in all I choose to do. As you go back to your respective homes following this occasion, may God grant everyone journey mercies and may His grace abide in you all in Jesus name, Amen.

God bless Ala Nkwerre Opia Egbe!                             God bless  Nigeria                                                          God bless the United States of America!
Thank you all.
