A trip to Saint Augustine, Florida

Hi Everyone! Sorry I've been MIA. It's been so hectic around here with the launch of STK. Alhumdulillah, it's such an amazing feeling to be able to provide a product that people can't find anywhere else. It truly brings me joy when I see my clients delighted with their purchase!

In this post, I wanted to shine some light on my recent trip to Saint Augustine, Florida for my best friend’s wedding. I actually never heard of this place before, but let me tell you, it wasBEAUTIFUL! Saint Augustine had a wonderful Spanish and European vibe. There were so many places that had an incredible historical background and the architecture was absolutely breathtaking! Did you know Saint Augustine is actually the oldest city in America?

In the pictures above you'll see the Lightener Museum, Casa Monica Hotel, and Flagler College. They also have Ghost tours! Because this city is so old, they say there's an interesting amount of paranormal activity…creepy! But so cool!

Now onto my favorite topic, food! So personally, I only eat Zabihah Halal food. When I go to new places, I pull out my handy dandy Zabihah App (shout out to Blue Clues). Saint Augustine did not have any Zabihah restaurants close by, but that didn't bother me. I honestly love eating a variety of foods that don't contain meat. For example, pasta, enchiladas, shrimp, salmon, bean burgers, etc. However, I am very picky with the kind of fish I eat. It literally has to be cooked well so I don't taste or smell anything fishy. People usually look at me like I’m crazy when I ask them if their fish is very fishy. For dinner, I ordered the Salmon at Mojo City BBQ and when I say it was delicious I mean it was AMAZING! I had steamed corn and mac and cheese on the side and OMG! It was SO good! You have to try it if you ever go here.

For Breakfast, I went to Maple Street Biscuit Company. The biscuits were pretty bomb but most of them were served with chicken. I opted for the entree, Sunshine in the Garden. If you don't like tomatoes, this is not the dish for you. I thought it was really good, but I do think a bit of hot sauce would have made it even better (It needed that kick of flavor).

Overall, Saint Augustine is a beautiful place to visit. However, I don’t think you’ll need more than 3 days to enjoy the city. It's pretty small and has limited things to do. But if you ever decide to go, let me know. I definitely want to hear your thoughts about it!

Food

Green Eggs Cafe

So Fashion has always been my passion (such an overused statement), but, there's something else I love....FOOD! I absolutely love trying different restaurants everywhere I go. I used to always go to large chain restaurants until I realized their food is pretty much the same anywhere I go. That isn't a bad thing, I still go at times. However, now I love trying places that are local to the city. I was in Philadelphia the past weekend and went to a place call Green Eggs Café (doesn't sound so pleasing). They have three cafes in Philly and one in Miami.

Parking was a hot mess. If you're coming from Jersey like I was, use PATCO. The stop is only 4 blocks away. Once you get to the café you'll see it's a bit small but cute. The service was awesome! They call your name to be seated. Once seated they are very attentive and super helpful.

I ordered the Crème Brulee French Toast. IT WAS AMAZING! So much flavor! Every bite melted in my mouth. It was beyond delicious! The best part, the portions are pretty big. I could have easily shared it with someone else, but I was being greedy (lol). Our waiter kept checking in on us to make sure we were happy with our order and if we needed anything else.

My overall experience was great, minus the parking. I have heard they get pretty busy, so make sure to go on a day where you wouldn't expect it to be as crowded. I hate waiting, especially when I'm starving - I end up hangry.

Be sure to check this little place out and let me know what you think! If you've already been, let me know what you had and what you would recommend! I wouldn't mind going back and trying something new. Maybe you can join me. :)

Welcome to STK by Sayeda Hussain

There are no words to describe how I feel being able to share my passion with the world. Those of you who know me know that I have talked about this moment for the past decade. I always dreamed about having my own clothing line but there was one issue - I was looking for trends, wondering what the next new style will be. Then I stopped. I stopped focusing on the next trend, but, rather on what I wanted and what I needed. I love shopping (as I'm sure most of you do) but the past couple of years, I would go to the mall, and come back empty handed. I began realizing this was happening more often. I started seeing trends that made zero sense to me and finding styles I just could not wear. I personally dress modestly and I would see items with huge slits, sleeveless, cut outs, etc. Although these are all things I do not wear, it was all that was available. I would buy them and layer up. Whether it was a cardigan, tights, undershirt - you name it, I have it. Soon, that one pretty dress became hidden in all the other items layered upon it. Not to mention, it being 95 degrees in the summertime and here I am sweating a river with all my layers.

I started to get really frustrated with this so I decided to have dresses made for myself. I sketched out some designs and saw them come to life. I would wear these anywhere I went and the response I got were amazing.  People would stop me and ask where I bought them. I even had someone take a picture of me because they couldn't get over how beautiful I looked all together . The compliments I received genuinely made me feel beautiful. So then I asked myself, how amazing would it be if every girl could feel the way I feel right now. In that moment, I made the decision to launch STK by Sayeda Hussain.

I want to be able to give you products you want and not force a trend on you. I want all of you to look AND feel beautiful because it truly is an amazing feeling. Today is not only the launch of the fashion line but also a launch for me to achieve what I desire . I want to bring you along on this journey and on all of my adventures. I want to be able to advise you, give you honest reviews and inform you about all of the things I've learned and have been asked. Whether it's make up, clothing, styling, food (yes I love food), products, destinations - anything and everything, I want to give you my honest opinion on it. If there’s anything specific you want to see, please don't hesitate and let me know.

So WELCOME! I am so glad to have you here! 🙂
