Welcome to Peaceful Shores

Providing unique, peaceful, and compassionate end-of-life and palliative care for beloved pets.

Seeing your pet arrive at the end of their life isn’t easy. So many memories and so much love make it a bittersweet time that often comes with challenges and difficult decisions to make.

As a hospice and palliative care veterinarian, Dr. Kennedy helps guide you to the best choices for you and your pet. Just like human hospice care, veterinary palliative and hospice care is intended to support you and your family as you face the loss of your beloved companion.

How to Know If It’s Time: Quality of Life (QoL) Survey

Facing the end of your pet’s life is a difficult and emotionally charged time. This is why Dr. Kennedy uses a Quality of Life survey (modeled after the Ohio State University’s Quality of Life Checklist) to help objectively determine if it’s time to consider hospice care and/or euthanasia. She knows your pet’s quality of life and comfort is of the highest priority to you AND she wants to support that completely.

If you’re unsure if it’s time to consider in-home pet hospice or euthanasia, take the survey and then reach out to Dr. Kennedy to discuss results and your concerns and questions.

Animals have a much better attitude to life and death than we do. They know when their time has come. We are the ones that suffer when they pass, but it’s a healing kind of grief that enables us to deal with other griefs that are not so easy to grab hold of.
