Jenny Richardson teaches piano to students from ages five to eighteen and has over twenty years of experience. A member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, she is a Virginia state certified music and elementary education teacher. Her students have the opportunity to perform yearly recitals. Several examples are Christmas recitals at local nursing homes, Festival with the National Federation of Music Clubs, and the Spring Recital at the end of the year. Students receive awards at the end of the year, at the Spring Recital, acknowledging them for a job well done. They also receive certificates for Superior performances and trophies when they have accumulated the correct amount of points awarded to them. 

Piano Lesson Benefits

Piano lessons have proven to have many benefits for students and is very special instrument. It requires all ten fingers, both hands and feet, reading two lines of music, and spatial skills (knowing where the keys are without looking). Children who receive lessons have significant cognitive improvements, better memory, better academic skills, better self-esteem and self-discipline. The younger the student begins, the more time the brain has to develop these skills that will last a lifetime. Mrs. Jenny recommends waiting until a child can read to start (usually around age 7) and can sit on the piano bench for the 30 minute lesson.
