In celebration of the new film, My Garden of a Thousand Bees, Nature and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios join One Square Foot, an initiative from World Wildlife Fund and Air Wick ® Scented Oils to encourage the planting of native wildflowers that support bees and other pollinators.

My Garden of a Thousand Bees follows acclaimed wildlife filmmaker Martin Dohrn, who, locked down by coronavirus, turns his lenses on the surprising and spectacular bees living in his own urban garden in Bristol, England. Watch My Garden of a Thousand Bees online for free at pbs.org/nature and the PBS Video app.

In support of the film, HHMI Tangled Bank Studios and Nature launched a national effort to highlight the crucial role bees and other pollinators play, and to encourage audiences to plant flowers and create pollinator habitats in their communities. Through actions as small as planting a small section of yards or community spaces with native wildflowers, we can each make a big impact. Even one square foot can make a difference.

The outreach initiative includes the release of new bee-based video content; free region-specific wildflower seeds, and local activations — including seed planting events, screenings and more—hosted by PBS stations, libraries, and nature centers nationwide; and educational materials and activity guides from PBS LearningMedia and WWF’s Wild Classroom.
