Saltcote Sailing Club

Saltcote Sailing Club is a small club with simple facilities and low membership costs.

We cater for a mix of  craft  comprising of sailing yachts, sailing and rowing dinghies, canoes and wind-surfers. We pride ourselves on low-cost and self-help. Most of our sailing is informal, but we do have several organized events each year.

ABOUT

Our club is based on the north bank of the beautiful river Blackwater.

Join our Club
The club is nestled between the Blackwater Sailing Club and the Milbeach Marine Club. We are located a 1 ½ mile upstream from Osea Island and 2 miles downstream from Maldon.

Unlike most other clubs on the river, members can bring their boats alongside the wharf, right outside the clubhouse, which is very useful for ta king on supplies, crew, fresh water etc.

We have beautiful panoramic views across the river from our clubhouse and outdoor seating for those fine and balmy after-sail evenings that we all dream of.

The Club has 45 drying moorings located in front of the clubhouse and storage ashore for dinghies, wind-surfers and canoes is provided on the wharf and in dinghy racks.
Members may use the club dinghy to row out to their moorings. Dinghies, canoes etc. can be launched from our slip and from our floating pontoon. We have water for 2 hours either side of high water.

At the end of the season yachts are winched up the slip on yard trailers or road trailers. There are always experienced members on hand to help with this task and to ensure that safety is maintained. Smaller craft are normally either stored in our private car park or taken home for the winter. Larger craft over-winter on the wharf or on our sheltered winter moorings in protected creeks alongside the club. We are one of the few local clubs able to offer sheltered winter mooring.

To enable us to schedule boat launchings, please contact the Rob Brown to book in your boat launch date giving at least 7 days notice. If you don't book a date, you may not be able to launch on that day because other boats may have already booked in. This is to stop too many boats trying to launch on one day.
