Sean Chapman

Actor & Novelist

Sean is a leading actor with over 30 years experience in film, television and theatre. He has worked with many notable directors including Greg Doran, Sir Richard Eyre, Declan Donnellan, Katie Mitchell, Peter Gill, Anthony Page, Clive Barker and Alan Clarke.

At the National Theatre he originated the role of Prior Walter in the multi-award winning production of Angels in America. He recently celebrated over 500 performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford, London, Beijing and New York. Most recently he received critical acclaim for his performance as Joe Keller in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons.

Major television roles include the Paratroop Commander in Alan Clarke’s award winning BBC film Contact, Danny Monk in No Further Cause For Concern, and Tom Riley in The Black and Blue Lamp, also for the BBC. His film work includes James in Alan Clarke’s seminal Scum and Frank Cotton in the cult horror classic, Hellraiser. Sean starred as Rupert, opposite Ray Winstone, in Micheal Bray’s comedy, The Sea Change, selected for Jury Consideration at The Sundance Festival.

Sean is a graduate of the Faber Writing Academy. His debut novel A Distant Prospect drew plaudits from Sir Alan Bennet, Sir David Hare and Richard E. Grant. His collection of short stories, Ms Derby Requires (Four Dates with God, Sex and Death) was described as the ebook publishing debut of 2012. Other novels include The Blood In The Moon, a psychological thriller, and forthcoming, The Mason’s Son, detailing the trial and death of the Athenian philosopher, Socrates. He’s currently writing a thriller exploring the darknet, Hades’ Gate, due for publication this autumn.
