Species of the Week - The Willow Warbler

The Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus) is a small migratory bird that graces the woodlands and gardens of the United Kingdom. With its olive-green plumage and distinctive song, this delicate passerine is a herald of spring, arriving in the UK from sub-Saharan Africa in late March or early April.

Known for its agile foraging among trees and shrubs, the Willow Warbler feeds on insects and spiders, contributing to the ecological balance of its habitat. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and climate change, conservation efforts aim to protect this charming species.

However, capturing them on camera can be challenging, as they flit around the scrubland with remarkable agility, so getting a clean image with minimal distractions is often very difficult.
