Stop & Rethink AI

The time to Stop and Rethink Artificial Intelligence is NOW.
Research the subject. Keep informed.

Geoffrey Hinton

Geoffrey Everest Hinton is a cognitive psychologist and computer scientist, most noted for his work on artificial neural networks. He is popularly referred as the ‘Godfather of AI’

“There’s a long term worry that I used to think was slightly crazy, and I changed my mind over the last few months. And that’s of these things getting control and taking over, which is basically the end of humanity. That’s a threat that seemed like a fringe conspiracy theory kind of threat… I now think it’s a very strong possibility.”

Eliezer Yudkowsky

Yudkowsky is a decision theorist from the U.S. and leads research at the Machine Intelligence Research Institute. He's been working on aligning Artificial General Intelligence since 2001 and is widely regarded as a founder of the field.

“Many researchers steeped in these issues, including myself, expect that the most likely result of building a superhumanly smart AI, under anything remotely like the current circumstances, is that literally everyone on Earth will die. Not as in “maybe possibly some remote chance,” but as in “that is the obvious thing that would happen.
“If somebody builds a too-powerful AI, under present conditions, I expect that every single member of the human species and all biological life on Earth dies shortly thereafter.”
“Shut it all down.”

Connor Leahy

AI researcher working on large language models and aligning them to human values, and a cofounder of EleutherAI

“We are in a death race towards the bottom… careening towards a precipice, full speed, and we won’t see the precipice coming until we’re over it. This is led almost entirely by a very, very small number of people that are techno optimists, techno utopians, people in the Bay area and London, who are extremely optimistic – or at least wilfully in denial – about how bad things are.”
