My story is all about loving a career and the students whose lives I’ve influenced.   Teaching - A Journey of Trust, is as the name implies – a journey.  It is a wonderful journey of lives touched, teaching strategies, humorous stories, and life. 

 

The most important thing we must remember is that we don’t teach subjects, we teach people.  Besides learning the various subjects we teach, our students are looking for inspiration, guidance, and critical thinking skills.  They need us to be role models and experts in our craft.

Fundamental to all of this is the notion of trust.  Students must trust us and we must trust them.  We have to teach them to think, to reach high, to accept failure as part of learning, and be comfortable with whom they are.  None of this is possible without trust.

Teaching – A Journey of Trust takes the reader through my career as a High School teacher.  There are stories of success and failure, both professional and personal.  There are high times and low times.  Personal reflections highlight different learning situations.  Specific strategies are discussed, along with a variety of student-teacher interactions.  An appendix contains specific examples of lessons as well.

All in all this is a story of relationships, optimism, and success.  A teacher can do wonderful things.
