Experience nature, from the back of nature

The Western Horse Co.

We offer an escape from the pressures and chaos of urban life by making real horsemanship available to anyone. There’s a meditative nature to horses that we teach people to find through learning real horsemanship. Putting safety and the dignity of the horse first, we bring people the best of a life with horses without having to sacrifice their everyday lives. There’s so much to learn about life and ourselves through the metaphor of the horse, whether you’re looking for a new horse or learning horsemanship, we can help you explore it. Find out more.

learn to ride the whole horse

Horsemanship Lessons

Our passion is horses and we love to share it with people. We’ve abandoned the conventional horseback lesson that teaches only the basics of formal riding, and instead bring people into the world of real horsemanship. Our riders don’t just ride, they learn all aspects of care and handling on the ground. We apply everything we learn to trail riding in some of the last open space in Southern California where you can disconnect from everything artificial and find yourself among what’s real. Learn more about lessons here.

Handcrafted horses

Horses for Sale

Horses are amazing animals and we consider it an honor to work them. We draw from years of experience in some breathtaking settings ranging from Colorado to Hawai’i to handcraft our horses. These animals are an escape and a source of freedom for us and we love to provide that to people through the horses we produce. Check out what horses we have available here.

Location

In the Heart of SoCal

Located in the Chino Valley, roughly a half hour from downtown Los Angeles, the ranch offers an escape from city and suburban bustle. The history of this area is rich in horsemanship, with the famed Vaqueros, known the world over as expert horsemen, especially prominent on the very land we still ride on. Few people are aware of the history here and just as few realize it’s still available to them today. We want to introduce people to horsemanship today, as well as it’s rich history and tradition from the past.
