We Need

People like you!

We’re looking for people who would like to make extra money by participating in management and marketing research studies.

What we are doing.

Researchers at MBS are conducting marketing and organizational studies, and we are looking for participants who would like to take part in these studies. Participation is open to anyone over the age of 18, and is a great way to contribute to academic research and earn money. You will be compensated for your time. Studies vary in their method and amount of compensation.

FAQ

Who Can Participate?

You do not have to be a UniMelb student to participate. Our participants include UniMelb students, faculty, staff members, and alumni, as well as people who are not affiliated with the university. To participate, you must be:

• Be over 18 years of age or older

• Able to complete studies in English

Will I be Compensated?

Yes! We appreciate your help, so we will compensate you for your time. Studies vary in their method and amount of compensation. You may view these details for each study on our website.

What Will I Be Asked To Do?

Typically, participation involves responding to questions on a computer, or interacting with others in a group setting, and reporting your thoughts or preferences. Our studies are behavioural, and they do not involve physical exertion or invasive medical procedures (though they sometimes include physiological measures, using external sensors placed on your skin). They do not require any special knowledge, just your honest opinion on how you feel about the situations you encounter.

Where Do These Studies Take Place?

The studies are conducted both at the University of Melbourne, and online.

How Often Will I be Contacted?

When a new study becomes available, the researchers will send you an email with a brief description of the study, so you can go to the website and sign up for it if you are interested. (No need to do anything if you’re not interested in that study.) Although the frequency of these announcements depends on the number of new studies available, typically you will receive one study announcement a week once the pool is established.

What If I Change My Mind?

You may opt out of being a participant at any time. If you do not wish to receive communication about these studies, you may deactivate your account through the Sona site (see above or below) by yourself. Once you communicate your wish to opt out, your name will be promptly removed from our list, and you will not receive further emails about these studies

How Can I Participate?

If you are interested in participating in research, you will need to sign up as a participant on our website https://unimelb-mbs.sona-systems.com/. Once you sign up, you will be able to view different studies available on this website, view the descriptions of these studies and the compensation they offer. You can then select those that you would like to participate in. You will also be informed about new studies when they become available. Please note that this is a brand new program, just being launched. You are signing up to be part of a “pool” of people who will be contacted for studies. At the beginning, you may not see studies listed on the website. However, studies will become available very soon and you’ll be notified of new ones by email (or you can simply visit the site to check for updates).

Privacy

We value your privacy. Once you sign up, the website will give you a unique ID number. Most administrative processes will use this ID number rather than your name–your name is used only for scheduling, unless you give consent for us to use it further.
