About the Women in Sport and Exercise Academic Network

Opportunities for women in sport and exercise are expanding rapidly, whether it is leading a governing body, excelling in elite competition or simply participating for fitness, camaraderie and the love of sport. However, there is still much work to do to achieve a level playing field. 

The Women in Sport and Exercise Academic Network (WiSEAN) aims to bring together leading academics and practitioners from a range of disciplines to grow, strengthen and promote research on women in sport and exercise, with the ultimate goal of optimising women’s athletic success and their participation.

The aims of the WiSEAN are:

To provide a communication network of individuals who are involved in commissioning, designing, executing, reporting and utilising research into women in sport and exercise

To offer a mentoring support network for professional
development

To be the first port of call for media queries relating to women in sport and exercise

We also want to gather nominations for someone who you feel has made a significant contribution to Sport and Exercise for women and/or girls, who you feel is inspirational in their field.
