Five Star Meals

Dear WSD3 Families,

COMMUNITY ELIGIBILITY PROVISION

Widefield School District 3 is participating in a Universal Lunch and School Breakfast Program for the current school year 2023/2024. If your children attend Widefield School District 3, breakfast and lunch will be available to them at no charge. All students enrolled in this district may participate in the breakfast and lunch program at no charge to them.

Studies have shown that children who are not hungry perform better in school. By providing lunch to all children at no charge, we are hoping to create a better learning environment for our students.

The school breakfasts and lunches that we serve follow U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. The School Breakfast and Lunch Programs cannot succeed without your support; please encourage your children to participate in the school meal programs.

Meals will be served to all students at no charge regardless of the eligibility status.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact us at (719) 391-3560.

We will also be offering Ala Carte items in our Junior High and High Schools. Elementary students can purchase an extra milk or water. If your child would like to purchse extra items, please ensure they have adequate funds on their account for those purchases.

DON'T MISS OUT ON SUMMER EBT BENEFITS!

The State of Colorado has made Summer-EBT a permanent program. All families that are currently approved for Free and Reduced school meals will receive $40 per month for each school aged child (K-12) for groceries. In order to receive the $40, you must have an application or Direct Certification on file with Nutrition Services. If you are unsure if you will receive the benefit, you can call Nutrition Services at (719) 391-3560 to check the status of an application or if you have a free or reduced status on file. Free and Reduced applications can be filled out online by clicking the Meal Applications logo on the left side of this page.

GOOD NUTRITION AND LEARNING GO HAND IN HAND!

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS
