Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day. I've been thinking a lot about mothers these days, especially my own. She's a gentle mother overall, but stern when she needs to be. I often felt she was too gentle on me and my siblings, but who am I to judge something like that. She's so forgiving of us. We could do anything wrong and she will find a way to create gentle lesson out of it. As I grow older, I realize more and more that her endless forgiveness is her way of instilling a sense of kindness, love, and community into us. My mom always gives the benefit of the doubt to us and to others. She is a mother to my siblings, myself, and so many others. Happy Mother's Day. I will see you on Sunday and your coming birthday.

Hello 2019!

Image
Wow, another year has come and gone. Where does the time go? Also, where does Time itself go? I've never thought about that before. I know this is my 3rd post today since I slacked off a bit the last couple of months, but I still wanted to remember those months in a post of their own. 2018 went by so fast and I did so many things that I forgot to check in with myself. That's why my resolution for 2019 is to keep myself healthy and to remember to check in with myself periodically and ask myself how I'm doing from time to time. First, keeping healthy. I have been plagued by headaches pretty much all of my life and I think I finally found the reason: sugar. I noticed late last year that when I eat too much sugar I almost instantly get a headache (even one cupcake will do it). Which is why in 2019 I want to watch my sugar intake more closely to avoid having so many headaches. Also, I want to keep up with my running. I did a good job last year with running con

2018 Holidays

Image
The 2018 Holidays were nice because they were filled with FIRSTS. 1. This was mine and Judy's first Christmas in our apartment together (that's our tree up above). We decorated the whole apartment with lights and ribbons and other Christmas-y stuff. We had a tree with some gifts under that really tied the apartment together. I like the Christmas lights lighting so much for movie watching I might have to leave them up a bit longer :) 2. My family played White Elephant for the first time ever this year. This was super fun because usually we just buy gifts for each other (which is great of course), but we wanted to make things a little bit different. Everyone really enjoyed getting mysterious gifts. I think next year we're going to try Secret Santa instead so we can give more personalized gifts :) 3. I spent Christmas evening with Judy's family. This was my 8th Christmas with Judy, but my 1st Christmas with her family. First we went to her uncle's house where w

How Was Colombia?

Image
Colombia was awesome! I arrived in Bogota one day after Sathya and Srini. The first night we had a fun night with the neighbors. We did some sight seeing and eating in Bogota over the next few days. The photo above was taken at Monserrate in Bogota which is a mountain that many people visit for a spiritual experience. After Bogota we went to MedellĂn which was amazing! We went to an Italian restaurant on our first night and it was probably the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to (spaghetti of course). During the days we visited a couple of museums and a bunch of restaurants. At night we went to some bars and clubs which were super fun too. We had an interesting interaction with the local police on our last day, but it didn't sour our experience at all. I loved visiting Colombia and will hopefully visit again!

Going to Colombia!

Image
It looks like I'm going to Colombia later this month! I never really though of going to this country, but things just kind of ended up this way. Here's what happened. I was supposed to go to Chile with a couple of friends. We booked things over the summer, but some travel paperwork got delayed. We were going to cancel the trip, but decided to checkout Colombia instead. I was a little apprehensive at first since I never thought of visiting their, but then I thought if I don't go now then I may not ever get the chance to go there again! After researching a bit, I see there is so much to see and a great culture to experience. I'll be there for a little less than a week total, so I hope I can squeeze everything into that time frame. Looking forward to this trip and seeing another part of the world!

5 Years

Wow! How time has flown by! Today is my nephew's 5th birthday. My family has a ton of birthday's every year, but this one is pretty special to me. When I look at Santino I always think about how he marks a new generation in my family. I think of how he represents the generation that I want to provide a good and happy life to. I was riding my bike to a stats class during my freshman year of college when my sister called me to tell me she was going to the hospital and that Santino would be coming soon. Later on that day he was here! I've really enjoyed spending time with him over the past 5 years. He's in school now and he's such a smart kid. So articulate in both school and in relationships. I'm really proud to be his uncle and proud of my sister for raising such a good kid. Happy birthday little guy!

October Apple Event

Image
I'm sure many people know this already, but I'll say it anyway: I love Apple products. I was giving an iPod Shuffle when I was 12 (played a ton of Brick Breaker of course). I remember when the iPhone first came out in 2007. I was completely amazed. I saved my money for an entire year and bought the 2nd generation iPod Touch. The App Store was launched that year and I was fully involved in the ecosystem. I also started jailbreaking my devices during that time and have done so ever since. I've had the iPhone 4, 5, 6, and now I'm using the X (I usually stay away from the S releases). Sadly, I've sold or given away all of those devices (college student, needed money). Ah, now to the point of this post (sorry for all that digression up there): Apple is having an October event next week. I've been wanting to purchase an iPad Pro since its release, but have held off. I won an iPad Mini in a raffle a while back and now I think it's time for an upgrade. I'll
